PROFILE OF THE COMPLETER

Pillars of Pedagogy

Competence that Serves the Faith. The completers are prepared for the rigors of higher education and the pursuit of their interests as persons. Thus, Ateneans:

1. Desire to improve themselves, to continually gain an in depth understanding of who and what they are, and to become more authentically free and decisive in their actions;
2. Take pride in their work and enjoy intellectual and creative endeavors;
3. Think critically and creatively;
4. Strive for greater precision and personal style in thought and various forms of expression;
5. Demonstrate appropriate perspectives over central ideas and methodologies of the variety of academic disciplines;
6. Seek meaningful application of knowledge and 21st century skills to real life situations;
7. Show appreciation of the appraisal of their attitudes, behaviors and actions; 
8. Evaluate some of the moral ambiguities embedded in values promoted by foreign and contemporary culture; 
9. Grow in awareness of the global nature of various social problems and relate them to current issues and historical events;
10. Explore career and future lifestyle choices within an Ignatian values framework.

Conscience that Promotes Social Justice. The completers examine their religious feelings and belief with a view to living a fundamental orientation toward God, establishing a relationship with a religious tradition and religious community. Thus, Ateneans:

1. Acknowledge that there are universal values which qualify a truly human life;
2. Respect authorities and laws;
3. Reflect on their own and other experiences;
4. Strive toward the development of a Christian conscience;
5. Establish their own identity by integrating their sexuality into their whole personality;
6. Accept their weaknesses and strengths with genuine humility;
7. Rejoice at the blessings of others and grieve over misfortunes of others especially the marginalized;
8. Seek a clearer understanding of their faith in the context of their others’ lives;
9. Draw their motives for responsible moral decisions and acts from scriptures and tradition, the sacraments, personal and community prayers;
10. Practice the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.

Compassionate Commitment to Change that is Enculturated. The completers transcend self- centeredness and acknowledge their responsibility in the many needs of the local and wider communities. Thus, Ateneans:

1. Maintain healthy relationships with people from different backgrounds;
2. Show empathy as a way of caring and concern for others, especially the marginalized;
3. Nurture a sense of compassion for the victims of injustice and assist them regain their rights and dignity;
4. Confront the moral ambiguities embedded in values promoted by local and global structures;
5. Promote family unity and foster family service to immediate and larger community;
6. Manifest love for and become responsible stewards of God’s creations;
7. Affirm the glory of God in the beauty of the created universe and resolve firmly to care for the environment;
8. Commit to the public service aspect of their future career choices;
9. Find fulfillment in their experiences of serving others with diverse backgrounds and appreciate their need for love and respect. 
10. Realize that Christian faith implies commitment to a just and humane society bringing into being the Regnum Dei. 

Christ-Centeredness that Impels Inter-Religious Dialogue that Enhances the Faith. The completers recognize the reality of the human and divine person of Christ working actively in their lives and the lives of others. Thus, Ateneans:

1. Experience God personally in and through Christ as presented in the New Testament;
2. Reflect on the Church’s teaching about Jesus and His redeeming mission in and through the Church;
3. Appreciate the Eucharist as the core of a living Christian community;
4. Emulate Jesus Christ, His life and His teaching;
5. Translate their affinity with Jesus Christ to their relationship with others especially the marginalized;
6. Become more aware of their responsibility as Catholics to explore and validate their faith;
7. Respect non-Christian and non-Catholic religious traditions and beliefs;
8. Heed the need for healing and reconciliation with friends, family church, common home, and the Lord;
9. Seek and find God in all things;
10. Share with the global community the Bicolano’s inherent faith in God and devotion to “Ina”, our Lady.
